French fashion house Chloé has parted ways with creative director Hannah MacGibbon. MacGibbon was initially hired in 2008 after a successful collaboration with the brand on a fragrance launch. Regardless of mostly good runway reviews, and the brand’s leading contribution to a 70’s trend throughout the industry, Chloé is looking for a new creative direction. Designer Clare Waight Keller has been hired to replace MacGibbon after she herself resigned from the same position at Pringle of Scotland earlier this year. Chloé is the most recent of many European fashion houses who have hired new designers, including Dior and Balmain.

GOODBYE, CHRISTOPHE DECARNIN

It was announced earlier this month that Balmain will be ending its 5 year collaboration with head designer Christophe Decarnin. His punk rock, grunge, and edgy style filled with embellishments and a ton of strong shoulders made a huge statement in the fashion world. He undoubtedly increased popularity and awareness of the brand with his exquisite beading and intricate designs so his leave was a total surprise to all.
It is speculated that he is enrolled in a mental hospital but it's like they say... there is a fine line between genius and insanity

Here a few pictures of some of his pieces through out his years at Balmain:

DIOR DILEMMA

Since 1996 John Galliano (pictured above) has been the Creative Director of Christian Dior and has been credited for giving the fashion house that contemporary, edgy, whimsical look we all associate Dior with today. As a designer, Galliano is almost genius. His designs are eye-catching and beautiful with a very theatrical feel, which is why his designs are so sought after by celebrities, first ladies, and even princesses. If you aren't familiar with the designer, here are a few of his memorable designs:

It has been said that "the genius who runs to madness is no longer genius", and sadly this seems to be the case for Galliano. After his innapropriate outburts last week, the designer will have to appear in court and may face up to six months in prison. His outrageously offensive remarks lost him the respect of many fans, including Natalie Portman (current face of Dior). It was announced last Friday that Galliano has been fired from his position, and he did not appear at Sunday's show for his own label.

With Dior's creative director position open, major changes are in the air for the fashion world. Since the videos of Galliano's behavior hit the internet, rumors have been spreading about who will take his place and what changes this will bring. VOGUE online reported that Riccardo Tisci, currently creator director of Givenchy, is the favorite in the running for Dior's position. However, nothing official has been announced. The next couple of weeks could turn into a game of fashion house musical chairs, and the look of Dior (and other fashion houses) might never be the same.

CONFETTI SYSTEM

Confetti System is two friends—Julie Ho and Nicholas Andersen—who make their living creating festive and kaleidoscopic "party systems" out of tissue paper, sparkly mylar, and more. The idea behind Confetti System generally is "to play with the idea of celebration, and what objects can come out of that — to make it something new," says Ho.

In addition to garlands, party hats, blindfolds, and party necklaces, the duo makes large geometrically shaped piñatas, which are covered in hand-cut fringe made from tissue paper or Mylar.
Confetti System also directs and creates installations and sets for the fashion and music industry, working with J. Crew, United Bamboo, Opening Ceremony, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Beach House.

As noted in a previous post, inspiration can come from the strangest places..."What we get really inspired by are, when you go into old 99-cent stores, the bulk supplies that are shitty but look beautiful in the way they’re packaged or the graphic design," Ho explains.
Their handy work is far form the 99-cent store decorations due to the huge amount of time put into each handmade "party" piece. The end product showcases the duo's love and dedication to creating products that will not only be visually impressive but inspire viewers and create a fun-loving and inspirational atmosphere.
I wish I could decorate every room in my house with their pieces! So much imagination, sparkle, and happiness.

DESIGNERS SKETCH FOR KATE MIDDLETON

Kate Middleton's wedding with Prince William is literally the talk of the world right now and has been for some time. So it was no surprise when designers started sketching a wedding dress for her. Here are some of the ones that caught my eye:

Badgley Mischka designers, Mark Badgley and James Mischka

    J Crew

    Nicole Miller

    Valentino

    Chanel's head designer, Karl Lagerfeld

    Jason Wu

    Peter Copping for Nina Ricci

I would have to say my favorite is the Badgley Mischka piece! It really is beautiful and I can totally imagine her wearing it, accessorized fittingly and accordingly of course.
